Welcome message from our President
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the International Sociology of Sport Association (ISSA).
I am deeply honoured to take over from Prof Christine Dallaire’s successful tenure as President of ISSA. Hers are ‘big shoes to fill’ and it is my intention to continue building on her legacy of outstanding work over the next three years.
We bid farewell to three of members of the Executive Board: Professors Elizabeth Pike (Past-President), Cora Burnett-Louw (VP International and Awards) and Mary McDonald (VP Communications). I sincerely thank them for their numerous years of committed service to ISSA. They will no doubt continue (as they have over the course of their careers) to provide international leadership in their respective research areas and make substantive contributions to the sociology of sport.
The Association remains in good hands and I would like to take this opportunity to introduce the newly-elected Executive Board for 2020-2023: Parissa Safai as General Secretary, Emmanuelle Tulle as VP Communications, Hélène Joncheray as VP International Relations and Christine Dallaire as Past President. Brent McDonald and John Horne remain as VP Conferences and Treasurer respectively. Nice pictures and email addresses can be found on our Board page.
On behalf of the new Board we are looking forward to engaging with you and your collaborators in fulfilling our shared aim of advancing the sociology of sport, exercise and physical activity.
